Go Figure: Why Our Hope Should Never Be in Political Parties
In recent years, headlines have grown stranger than fiction. A man is found dead at President Obama’s estate—his personal chef, reportedly found in bizarre and tragic circumstances. Cocaine is discovered in the Biden White House with no clear explanation. A male escort is reportedly found in the home of Speaker Pelosi under mysterious conditions. Hillary Clinton operated a private, unsecured server while handling sensitive national information.
And yet, while these events sparked questions, none of them resulted in pre-dawn FBI raids, massive media crusades, or drawn-out legal theater.
But then, there’s Donald Trump.
He had his home raided, his every move scrutinized, and every legal technicality weaponized. Whether you love Trump or loathe him, it’s impossible to ignore the double standard. The same institutions that shrug off blatant scandals in one party seem relentless when it comes to the other.
Go figure.
Now, some people will read this and immediately shout "political bias!"—and they’re not wrong. But the problem goes deeper than partisan corruption. It’s spiritual. America doesn’t just have a political crisis—it has a truth crisis. A moral crisis. A godlessness crisis.
And here's the hard truth: if you're putting your hope in any political party, you're setting yourself up for disillusionment.
The Bible Saw This Coming
Psalm 146:3 couldn’t be clearer:
“Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.”
It doesn’t matter if they wear a red tie or a blue pin. Without Christ, every leader is deeply flawed. Power doesn’t sanctify; it corrupts. When any human being is lifted up as a savior figure—whether a smooth-talking liberal or a fiery conservative—we’re committing idolatry. That’s not just bad politics. That’s sin.
We aren’t called to blindly follow politicians. We’re called to test everything, hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21), and follow Christ even when the culture—and the government—go the other way.
A Culture Rotting from the Top
What do these elite scandals reveal about the heart of the nation?
We are a country led by people who have lost the fear of God.
The powerful are rarely held accountable.
Sin isn’t hidden anymore—it’s flaunted, normalized, and even protected by institutions.
Justice is no longer blind—it’s biased.
Isaiah 5:20 warns:
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness…”
That’s where we are. And it’s why revival is more urgent than reform. America doesn’t need better campaigns—we need broken hearts before a holy God.
What Can We Do?
Speak the Truth Boldly
Call out hypocrisy. Expose darkness. But don’t become consumed with anger or conspiracy. Our words must be seasoned with salt, not poisoned with bitterness.Pray for Our Nation
Not performative prayer. Desperate, intercessory prayer. God doesn’t move because we tweet louder—He moves when His people humble themselves and seek His face (2 Chronicles 7:14).Raise the Next Generation Right
Scandals happen when truth dies in one generation and rebellion takes root in the next. Raise children who fear God more than they fear man.Vote Your Values, But Worship Your God
Vote biblically. Stand for life, truth, and righteousness. But never forget—Jesus isn’t running for office. He already reigns.
Final Thought:
Yes, it’s frustrating. Yes, the double standards are blatant. But we must never let politics become our gospel. The hope of the world was never meant to sit in the Oval Office—it hung on a cross outside Jerusalem.
So don't put your trust in political parties. Put it in the God who raises the dead, exposes every secret, and reigns with perfect justice.
Because at the end of the day, it won’t be elephants or donkeys that save America.
Only the Lamb can do that.
